How to create a form mill tool in Autodesk Fusion
How to create a custom tool like a custom key slot cutter.
Issue
- When creating a tool and manipulating the tool's dimensions in Fusion, it doesn't produce the desired profile.
- How to create a custom form tool to accomplish the desired profile?
Solution
- Draw a cross-section outlining half of the tool. For example, a T-slot cutter should be drawn as the following image

- Exit the Design workspace with the sketch visible and switch to the Manufacture workspace.
- Select Manage > Form Mill
- Select the entire sketch as the profile
- Set the tool axis to be a centerline on the tool's rotational axis
- Choose the desired compensation point, then click OK. The compensation point is a vertex that follows along the toolpath
- Open the Tool Library, and the new form tool will be listed under the current document.
